Referee Training
Are You Interested In Becoming a Basketball Referee? - Earn decent pay - Learn the rules of basketball - Stay in shape - Flexible schedule Western Howard County Youth Basketball Inc. offers referee training to adults and players (ages 15 and up). Training takes place in the fall before the basketball season begins and includes 4-5 Saturday afternoon classes that run about four hours each. Class includes information on rules and refereeing strategies, as well as on-the-court training. After completion of the course, and passing the test, referees begin officiating the younger WHCYB age groups. First year referees are paired with veteran officials who help them improve their skills. Follow-up evaluations are done for all new and second year officials.
